There is a note at the beginning of the original edition of this book which says:"The book is a recollection of early boyhood, and some of the facts may be distorted by time." When you read the book, were there any places where you felt the account was exaggerated, or in any other way distorted? Can you think of any examples where facts have become distorted by time?
I find the account of the mastering of the bicycle on the part of mother somehow exaggerated ,may be because the senses are particularly sharp in chilhood, and, the fact that his mother, Mrs. Lee, was an original, and a bufoon in Laurie´s opinion,is what leads him to write ..." and to stop she rode into a hedge".
